  • Usage data: language preference, session information, the website you arrived from at sign-up, and limited technical data such as IP address and device type used for security and basic analytics.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to:

  • Provide and maintain your account
  • Track your exam progress and display results
  • Generate AI feedback on your writing (see Section 5)
  • Process premium purchases and provide access
  • Improve the platform and user experience

4. Cookies

We use essential cookies for:

  • Session management (keeping you logged in)
  • Dark mode preference (stored in your browser)
  • Language preference (German/English)

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

5. Third-Party Services

We share limited data with the following processors, only as needed to provide the service:

  • Google — if you choose to log in with Google, we receive your name and email address.
  • Stripe and PayPal — to process payments securely. Your full card details are handled by the provider and are never stored on our servers.
  • AI grading provider (OpenAI or Google) — when you complete a writing (Schreiben) task, your written answer is sent to our language-model provider to generate feedback and a score.

We do not sell your data or share it with any other third parties.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Request erasure of your data
  • Export your data (data portability)
